I realize that not everyone loves the Fall season like I do, so for those of you who are counting down the days until Spring, here’s a little fashion inspiration that can hopefully tide you over until it’s time to hit the Fall/Winter runways.I had the opportunity to attend the Sears
Spring 2013 preview in Toronto last week and am happy to give you a taste of what’s coming…
We’ll start with the Olympiad theme which takes inspiration from aquatic life for both men’s and women’s apparel:
With sports-based inspiration, you’ll “get the athletic vibe without the tennis shoes…” says Trend Director for Apparel, Nancy Dennis. Colour blocking will continue into the Spring with bold colours like yellow, blue green and coral. You can also expect lively, aquatic-inspired prints, nautical-themed details (which I LOVE – see photo below), and light and causal knitwear.
The next theme is Power Prints which bring back the busier looks of paisley, florals, stripes and polka dots…
Keep an eye out for women’s and children’s pieces that can be mixed and matched with bright solid pieces to make a bold, yet chic, statement:
And finally, we see softer pastel shades with a vintage feel under the Miami Social theme:
Expect lady-like silhouettes and cuts for women, and a preppy-yet-casual look and feel for men, both with muted shades of pink, coral, blue and green that reflect the “chalk coloured art deco architecture and casual-chic cocktail culture of Miami.”
With all this to take in I’ve got one question in mind… is it April yet?
